The Sewing Room and Quilters Corner

It's becoming so repetitive but every time I post on my Blog I seem to start by saying how poor I am at regular blogging .... honestly the intention is always there but I am determined that this Project will be updated regularly rather than wait til its completed and bombard you with photos!!

I'm also astounded that I now have 296 followers, reaching 300 will have to mark my second giveaway I think ... will need to have a little think about that one.

Anyway on to my latest project and like a number of friends right now I'm working on The Sewing Room, its a lovely two storey property from Julie Bennett at http://juliesdollshouseblog.blogspot.co.uk and next door will be the owner's home. I think its fascinating seeing so many different interpretations of the same theme.

This is the property, I just love Julie's houses.

After some trial & error here is the shop name

While the downstairs Sewing Room is being stocked for opening, upstairs which will be the Quilt Corner, is being decorated :-)

Because the shop is going to be quite full and "fussy" I'm going to keep the walls plain white but added these panels to the ceiling.

I have made quite a few quilts for upstairs, they're not true patchwork ( I just don't think I have the patience for that!) but they do look quite effective.

After my recent trip to Nice on the south coast of France where I just loved the fabric & haberdashery shops I printed some small scale Provence style fabric & made lots of fabric bales plus some cushions and a quilt. The colours in my shop were going to be my usual pastels so I'm not sure whether to use these or make a separate little scene for them?

Anyway that's the progress so far, I'm trying to do a little most days so watch this space & thanks again for looking.

My Vintage Dream

Firstly my almost standard introduction of apologising and making my excuses for being such a poor Blogger. I am so delighted to have so many new followers and believe me I really do appreciate your interest when I go so long between posts!
Again I have been working away over the last month on my latest project and because I forget to Blog as I go along I am now bombarding you with dozens of photos of the story ... I hope you enjoy them and thank you for staying with me.
And lastly to one of my very special friends who is not a miniaturist or a Blogger but has encouraged me so much over the years and nudges me to update my Blog ........... Happy Birthday next week Gill xx

I bought this gorgeous little shop from Julie Bennet and have had the best fun filling it and finishing it, in fact this is really one of the first projects I have actually completed before moving onto my next.

For the first time I had a go and painting and distressing some bare wood furniture ... and yes let's just say I got a little hooked ....

Back in my more familiar territory of working with paper & fabric I made books, fabric bolts, sample curtains, rugs, cushions & of course a cannister or two.

Upstairs was even more fun, most of the bits were from my many boxes of things collected over the years, again paint & distressing turned gold frames, lots of charms & ornaments, etc into some cool "vintage" collectibles

This really has been one of my favourite projects to date, I hope you enjoy the pictures

Two posts in two days !!!

Well I could almost say I'm on a roll as this is my second post in two days after a really long absence!! I'm just putting up some photos to show what I've been busy with and also a couple of my very special purchases.

I started making some cushions a couple of months ago , I really enjoyed it and so I made some more .. and more ... and more .... I've made over 300 now but have sold lots of them to my mini friends, its lovely that people have bought them but also a little nerve-wracking :-) I hope you like them.

This one was just for fun as its a copy of my own cushion!

Now this is one of my favourite recent purchases as I so love miniatures which are real & life like .... this pram from Gill Red Bloor(

Teenytinythings)

is just adorable, it converts to a buggy and even has its own rain cover.

I so loved my pram that I asked Gill if she could make me a shopping trolley and she did!! How fantastic is it?

Thanks so much for looking and for all your entries for my Giveaway, I'm off to Kensington Dollshouse Festival this weekend and am very excited as I've never been before ... so hopefully next post will show some special purchases.
